GameBiz Preview (PC): Battlefield 2
BattleField 2 brings the highly successful BattleField franchise into the modern era. Placing the game into the modern era means that we will get to drive fly and fire all the latest vehicles and weapons. In BattleField 2 you can choose to play one of three superpowers the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition.
Before you execute your mission you can select from seven different character classes, the team you wish to join, weapons and other kit for your character.
There are two new types of kits including a heavy weapons kit: heavy machine gun and lots of ammo plus claymore mines for a defensive tactic. And a Special Operatives kit with c4 and the laser designator. The C4 can be used for blowing up vehicles but also other players.
Medics now have defibulator paddles which can be used to revive killed comrades. Also if a medic jumps into a vehicle it will instantly become a mobile hospital healing any infantry within or standing nearby. If an engineer commands a vehicle the APC will repair all nearby vehicles. Added to that players inside of the APC's can now also fire out the ports these APC's not only get you to the battle quickly but also become a base of fire. If an engineer commands a vehicle the APC will repair all nearby vehicles.
On your recticle there is a new command interface; pressing Q will interact with the menu which is tied into whatever you are aiming at. If you aim at a enemy emplacement press Q and choose "spotted", your player will say "Enemy Spotted" The enemy emplacement will then be highlighted on the minimap for the other players on your team as a waypoint. You can also mark the emplacement by throwing smoke.
The core game play remains the same as previous BattleField titles with a selection of 30 modern controllable vehicles. The controls have been simplified so there isn't a hard learning curve for new players like the helicopter.
A new addition to BattleField 2 is you can view all your stats in game, including kills, captures, favorite weapons, vehicles and your medals. Plus ladder rankings so you can see how you compare against other players throughout the world.
Powered by a new engine, proprietary advanced physics engine that includes rag doll physics and material penetration players now in BattleField 2 can now fire through certain objects. For example if an enemy is taking cover behind a tin wall, you can fire straight through it. If you take a lot of fire your cover will slowly disintegrate and should provide some interesting tactical possibilities.
Using rag doll physics for character models simulates damage to the body and also allows the body to be blown up. Damage to your character depends on what kind of armor your soldier has. Different kits contain different levels of armor. The heavy assault guy can take a lot more damage than the medics for instance. And of course the damage depends on what kind of weapon being used.
Graphically Battlefield 2 will feature incredibly realistic and richly detailed environments. Grass and tress and other vegetation will gently sway in the wind. If players are hidden amongst vegetation they will be complete indivisible up-close and from afar.
Vehicles will leave tracks in soft surfaces; the tread will kick up dust particles. The environments have amazing dynamic lighting effects vehicles, power lines, radar installation, artillery batteries, and player models all cast shadows.
BattleField 2 also features revolutionary audio effects complete with Doppler effects. Doppler effects features positional audio.
Digital Illusions is promising to support 100 players online. And to support 100 players they had to introduce a new squad based system. (Bom a gente ja sabe que no maximo de inicio sera de 64 players) The squad system might improve the game with so many players in one map making it easier to cooperate with other players. You separate into different squads, with a squad leader or you can select your own, each squad is displayed on the screen with green arrows so you can identify where they are. You can even mark your waypoints with smoke. You can issue commands to your squad through the overhead map.
DICE have also included Voice over IP, which means that you don't have to use any third party software anymore. So it's easy to communicate with players in your squad. (definitavemente TS is no more em servidores publicos)
Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio. With up to 100 players online to host a game of BattleField 2 you will have to have at least a 1.5MB connection, and to join a server I would recommend at least a 512 or cable connection for lag free play.
The Commander is a new feature which makes for a whole new way to play the game. The Commander communicates by selecting the squads and talks directly with the squad leaders. As Commander you control what happens on the battlefield, you can select a waypoint your squad leaders have to acknowledge and them communicate the orders to the rest of the squad.
The Commander has a top down view of the map, and can only view the surrounding area where the squads are. Which means you can only see the enemy when they are in your men's line of sight. Having a top down view can also zoom in on any one area, watching the battle in real time. Which will be impressive watching artillery explode all around enemy troops, APC' s flanking left, tanks rolling over debris and your troops taking a waypoint.
As Commander you are able to drop artillery, ammo crates and set waypoints for your troops. You also have some impressive technology at your disposal, the first being a satellite scan which will reveal enemy forces across the map for a few seconds, then the Commander can relay that information to his squad leaders, then they pass it on to their squads. You also can send a spy drone over a certain area to circle revealing all the enemies within that area to the entire squad leaders and their team mates.
BattleField 2 will be released with the same tools DICE used to build the game. Including a level editor, FX-editor, animation etc. Releasing the modding tools it should be very interesting what the modding community will do with all this.
Playing a new era with the latest technology and weaponry is a good move for the game, outstanding graphics, new weapons and vehicles, and new multiplayer features, BF2 look very promising, and veterans of BF should pre order BattleField 2 right now!!

Bom eh mais um Preview de varios que ja sairam, mais ele esta bem feito mesmo, pois faz um bom resumo de tudo aquilo que ja ouvimos falar e de boatos, entrevistas e demais, aqueles detalhes hoje em dia sao certos e verdadeiros, pensar que tem pessoas que ainda naum acreditam neste otimo jogo :roll:
